Dusit International’s Expansion into the Middle East and India and How It Complements Existing Properties
Dusit International has recently strengthened its presence in the Middle East with the openings of Dusit Thani LakeView Cairo and Dusit Princess City Centre Dubai, bringing the company’s footprint in the region to five properties, with additional locations planned. In India, Dusit has partnered with Bird Group to develop five hotels and resorts across New Delhi, Jaipur, Rishikesh and Goa, scheduled to open by 2013. This pipeline includes the brand’s first Dusit Devarana, its most luxurious offering, and the debut of a dusitD2 outside Thailand.
These targeted expansions broaden Dusit’s global portfolio and attract diverse traveler segments to its existing hotels. By introducing premium and lifestyle brands into new markets, Dusit can cross-promote services and amenities, drive loyalty across regions and channel new source markets into its established properties. The mix of luxury and contemporary lifestyle hotels also allows the company to meet different traveler needs while reinforcing the distinctive Dusit hospitality that customers expect.
What Sets Dusit International Apart from Other Hotel Brands?
Dusit International distinguishes itself through a clear identity rooted in Thai heritage and a commitment to warm, attentive service. The company operates five core brands—Dusit Thani, Dusit Devarana, dusitD2, Dusit Princess and Dusit Residence—each tailored to distinct preferences and travel occasions. Whether guests seek classic luxury, a serene wellness retreat, modern lifestyle experiences, family-friendly stays or residential-style accommodations, Dusit’s brands deliver consistently high standards shaped by Thai hospitality traditions.
This brand architecture enables Dusit to offer targeted experiences while maintaining a unified promise of quality and gracious service. The result is a portfolio that resonates with a wide range of international travelers, from leisure guests and families to business visitors and long-stay residents.
Dusit International’s History and Future Direction
Dusit International traces its beginnings back to 1948 with the opening of The Princess, a landmark venture that helped shape Thailand’s hospitality industry. Over the decades the company has grown into one of the country’s leading hotel groups. Today, Dusit operates properties in Thailand, Dubai, Manila and Cairo, and has been progressively expanding across China, India and the Middle East.
To support growth and maintain service excellence, Dusit has invested in hospitality education. Dusit Thani College, established in 1993, and Le Cordon Bleu Dusit Culinary School, opened in 2007, provide professional training in hospitality and culinary arts. The company also collaborates on hospitality programs with institutions such as the Lyceum of the Philippines. These initiatives aim to develop skilled personnel for Dusit’s expanding portfolio while raising industry standards in the markets it serves.
Looking ahead, Dusit plans to continue expanding its global footprint with a balanced mix of luxury, lifestyle and residential projects. The company’s emphasis on service training and brand differentiation positions it to grow responsibly while preserving the authentic Thai hospitality that defines the Dusit experience.
About My Career and Leadership
After returning to Thailand to lecture at Chulalongkorn University, I became more involved in the family business while my mother, Thanpuying Chanut Piyaoui, pursued her vision of hotels defined by gracious Thai hospitality. Her dedication and clarity of purpose have been a constant inspiration. When I asked her how she saw Dusit’s future, she answered simply: “I still want Dusit to grow and for Thai hospitality to make a difference in the world.”
I am committed to realizing that vision. Under our leadership we currently employ around 8,000 staff, and as our development plans progress that number is expected to grow to approximately 15,000. Our priority remains delivering authentic, high-quality service while expanding Dusit’s reach in key international markets.
