JetBlue Introduces Upgraded A320 Fleet With New Features

JetBlue introduced a refreshed cabin experience last month that brings wider seats to its Airbus A320 aircraft. The update also adds custom seatback in-flight entertainment featuring more than 100 DIRECTV channels, hundreds of free movies and shows, and the ability for passengers to pair their mobile devices with the screen. Every seat now includes conveniently located power outlets, and free WiFi coverage has been expanded across nearly all routes JetBlue serves.

The Airbus A320 represents the bulk of JetBlue’s fleet, and this is the carrier’s first cabin redesign since it began flying in 2000.

“JetBlue rocked the airline industry in 2000 with seatback television and all-leather seats. In our first makeover since then, this updated onboard experience reflects what the founders might have created if they were launching JetBlue today,” said Marty St. George, executive vice president and chief commercial officer at JetBlue. “The new experience blends technology, entertainment, and comfort with the attentive service JetBlue customers expect.”

The project has been in development for several years, and the airline expects to have roughly one-third of the A320 fleet restyled by the end of the year.

“We are proud to partner with JetBlue on its A320 restyling project by supplying our Meridian Seat,” said Cynthia A. Muklevicz, vice president of account management, interiors, at Collins Aerospace. “Meridian delivers industry-leading comfort and personal space through focused ergonomic design and optimization of the seat’s underlying structure.”

Key highlights of the refreshed cabin include:

  • Wider seats designed specifically for the A320 to increase passenger comfort on short- and medium-haul flights.
  • Updated seatback entertainment systems offering live TV, a broad on-demand library, and device pairing for personal streaming.
  • Power outlets easily accessible at every seat to keep devices charged throughout the flight.
  • Expanded complimentary WiFi coverage across most of JetBlue’s network to support streaming, browsing, and connectivity in flight.
  • Interior seating supplied by Collins Aerospace’s Meridian Seat, emphasizing ergonomics and space efficiency.

The redesign aims to modernize the flying experience while preserving JetBlue’s focus on customer service. Passengers can expect a quieter, more connected flight with amenities that support both entertainment and productivity. As the restyling program progresses, travelers on more JetBlue A320 routes will begin to see the new cabin features rolled out gradually.

JetBlue’s update reflects broader industry trends toward enhanced onboard entertainment, improved personal space, and expanded connectivity. By integrating upgraded hardware, power access at every seat, and enhanced WiFi, the carrier positions itself to meet passenger expectations for comfort and convenience on short- and medium-distance flights.
