Virgin America is elevating its in-flight dining with a revamped first-class menu on select routes. The new service, introduced for flights between San Francisco (SFO) and Los Angeles (LAX) to Newark (EWR), New York (JFK), Boston (BOS) and Washington, D.C. (DCA), launches March 4 and adds a refined touch to the traditional post-takeoff cocktail offering.

As part of the upgraded experience, first-class passengers will be offered cocktail hors d’oeuvres—roasted tomato, marinated artichoke heart, olive and mozzarella skewers—served alongside warmed mixed nuts. Beyond the small plate, the refreshed menus provide more variety with a selection of two appetizers and three entrée choices available during the flight.

A standout element of the new service is Virgin America’s first custom ice cream flavor, created in collaboration with San Francisco-based artisanal maker Humphry Slocombe. This specialty ice cream will be delivered daily to the airline’s San Francisco base and served to first-class guests on eastbound departures from SFO.

The menu changes signal Virgin America’s focus on quality ingredients and a more curated dining experience in the cabin, combining convenient service with locally inspired flavors. Passengers traveling in first class on the affected routes can expect a more restaurant-like selection, thoughtfully plated hors d’oeuvres and a dessert that highlights a local ice cream maker’s craft.

By offering multiple appetizer and entrée choices, the airline aims to accommodate different tastes and dietary preferences while maintaining a consistent, elevated presentation.
