This fall, The Store Oxford opens in the historic heart of Oxford, England, offering a refined blend of heritage and contemporary comfort across 101 guestrooms. Housed in the former Boswells department store—one of the world’s oldest family-owned department stores, founded in 1738—the hotel preserves the building’s legacy while introducing modern hospitality and design.

Owned and managed by EQ Hotels, which recently opened Hôtel Dame des Arts in Paris, The Store Oxford welcomes back former Boswells employees, retaining local knowledge and the warm hospitality the store was known for. This continuity helps connect longtime customers and visitors with the new hotel experience.
The lobby is designed as a versatile social hub, combining comfortable seating with 1,800 square feet of light-filled co-working space ideal for guests who need to work or relax. Guestrooms reference the building’s retail past through playful, elegant touches: plush velvet headboards, king-sized beds, airy bathrooms and curated artwork that nods to the site’s history while providing modern comfort.

Culinary offerings play a central role at The Store Oxford. A rooftop dining space provides seasonal menus and views across Oxford’s skyline, while the hotel’s signature restaurant and café—scheduled to open this fall—will emphasize sustainably sourced ingredients and showcase the diverse cultural influences that shape Oxford’s food scene. Back on the ground floor, the Grand Lobby Bar serves craft cocktails, classic favorites and an array of specialty teas for relaxed gatherings and pre-dinner drinks.

For relaxation, the hotel partners with British spa brand Oskia to provide a dedicated wellness retreat, offering treatments designed to help guests unwind after a day of exploring the city or attending meetings. With thoughtful design, locally informed service and a focus on sustainability and culinary quality, The Store Oxford aims to be a new landmark for visitors to the city.
