As the newest addition to the Almae Collection, La Nauve Hôtel et Jardin opens in Cognac, France. Housed in a former distillery and incorporating the original Belle Époque mansion, the hotel blends historic architecture with contemporary refinement. The entrance hall evokes the past with a sweeping staircase illuminated by modern chandeliers in tones of blue and white.

The property offers 12 generously sized rooms, including a junior suite, each appointed with subtle, bespoke details. Natural materials and thoughtful craftsmanship feature throughout, from furnishings to distinctive headboards crafted from the roots of local Sequoia trees.
Dining at La Nauve focuses on local ingredients and seasonal produce grown in the hotel’s gardens. Notes presents a fine-dining experience that pairs culinary precision with warm hospitality, while Brasserie des Flâneurs occupies the restored distillery building, where chef Anthony Carballo composes elegant, approachable dishes. In colder months the brasserie is warmed by fireplaces for a cozy setting; in summer service extends to the garden for outdoor dining.

The hotel’s bar program highlights the region’s famed eaux-de-vie: guests can choose from up to 70 hand-selected cognacs and enjoy signature cognac-based cocktails developed by the bar manager. With nearly 200 cognac producers nearby, visitors can explore renowned houses as well as smaller, historic producers such as Delamain, which offers exclusive cellar visits.
A tranquil country stay is anchored by the estate’s 12 acres of landscaped gardens, creating quiet corners for reading, private picnics or outdoor yoga. The grounds include a century-old Sequoia, a small canal, fruit trees, a vegetable plot, rose beds and a pathway leading down to the Charente River. From the river guests may use a private boat or canoes, and in summer an outdoor pool provides a relaxing place to swim. E-bikes are available for guests who wish to explore the surrounding countryside beyond the property.
