The popular New York City-based restaurant group Serafina is expanding into hospitality with a beachfront hotel in Puerto Rico, aiming to bring its well-known restaurant identity to a resort setting. Scheduled to open in March 2018, the hotel will sit on Condado Beach along Ashford Avenue, just five minutes from historic Old San Juan.
The property offers waterfront views, an oceanfront infinity pool with oversized cabanas, a lively lobby bar and an on-site Italian restaurant called aMare. aMare will focus on Italian seafood while incorporating Puerto Rican flavors, reflecting the coastal location and the brand’s culinary character. Guests will also be able to enjoy food and cocktails by the pool and on the semi-private beach for added convenience.
Interior design follows a relaxed, bohemian aesthetic with minimalist lines and tropical accents to complement the seaside setting. Nearby recreational options include excursions to El Yunque Rainforest and evening kayaking trips to the region’s bioluminescent bays.
By opening in Puerto Rico, the hotel group hopes to contribute to the island’s tourism recovery following the impact of Hurricane Maria, bringing jobs and renewed visitor interest to the local economy.
