Ermitage du Lac: Scenic Lakeside Hermitage and Retreat Guide

Arrival / Check-In: Traveling from Laval to Mont-Tremblant was a long drive through snow and biting wind, but the destination made it worthwhile. The hotel at the base of Tremblant greets visitors with a charming, grand façade that continues inside— the lobby reflects the same warm aesthetic as the exterior.

We arrived fairly early in the morning, so only a few rooms were ready. Rather than waiting at the hotel, we used the time to explore Tremblant, enjoy coffee in town and have lunch. Even after that outing, my room wasn’t available until just before a multi-hour hike down the mountain. The delay was likely due to our early arrival, but I would have appreciated a bit more time to settle in before the evening’s activities. The front desk couldn’t give a precise check-in time, so it was fortunate that a last-minute check revealed the room was ready before we left.

Guest Quarters: The wait proved worthwhile. My suite-style room featured a full bathroom with a deep tub, a cozy fireplace, a well-sized sitting area, a half-kitchen and ample space to work or relax between activities. The layout made it easy to unwind and recover after long days on the slopes.

The décor was inviting: a single maroon accent wall complemented the wooden furnishings, and tasteful artwork reinforced the cabin-like feel. The fireplace and rustic touches made the suite feel like a comfortable retreat in a winter village.

The stylish living and sleeping spaces, together with a modern bathroom, made moving between three different hotels over five days much easier. On my final night in Tremblant I relaxed on the couch with a book and never felt cramped.

Services / Amenities: Ermitage du Lac provides the essentials for a ski resort stay. Guests can use ski lockers, enjoy continental breakfast options for early departures, and access a fitness room. In warmer months there’s an outdoor pool, and a hot tub is available year-round. The hotel also offers indoor parking, a game room and limited meeting space, making it suitable for small retreats.

For what the hotel doesn’t provide on-site, Mont-Tremblant village is a short walk away. Within five minutes you’ll find a range of shops and restaurants. The village also offers a nearby lift to additional shops and the gondola that carries skiers and snowboarders to the summit.

Top Takeaways:

◆ The village’s shops and restaurants are only a five-minute walk away, offering easy dining and shopping options.
◆ The accommodations are stylish, spacious and comfortable—ideal for relaxing after a demanding day on the mountain.
