Discover NYC’s New Accessible Web Portal for City Services

A new digital resource is now available for travelers with accessibility needs visiting New York City. The Accessible NYC portal on NYCgo.com offers engaging articles and interactive search tools that help visitors find accessible hotels, restaurants, attractions, events, and more.

“Every single person who visits should be able to experience the countless attractions offered throughout New York City,” said New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio. “Our goal is to make sure accessibility does not stand in the way of enjoying incredible destinations across all five boroughs. Accessible NYC visitor resources help make that goal a reality.”

The site’s articles provide practical, detailed information for people with disabilities. Coverage includes guidance on navigating Broadway theaters and Lincoln Center, tips for enjoying the city’s outdoor attractions and public spaces, and step-by-step how-to guides that make planning easier for visitors with varied mobility, hearing, or vision needs.

Accessible NYC also features searchable listings that let travelers filter by specific accessibility features, so they can quickly identify venues and services that meet their requirements. The portal highlights accessible hotel rooms and entrances, dining options with accommodations, attraction accessibility, and accessible transportation connections to help visitors make informed choices before they travel.

In addition to the accessibility content, NYCgo.com — redesigned in 2016 — uses a mobile-friendly, responsive layout so information is easy to find on phones and tablets while on the go.

“With more than 60 million people visiting NYC every year, we estimate that six million of them (10 percent) are people with disabilities, and making informed decisions before they leave will ensure that their time spent visiting the Greatest City in the World is spent in the most accessible places,” said Victor Calise, commissioner, Mayor’s Office for People with Disabilities. “Gaining access to everything the city has to offer regardless of your disability is at the core of what our office does, and Accessible NYC achieves that.”

The Accessible NYC portal aims to centralize practical accessibility information in one place, helping travelers plan accessible itineraries, discover inclusive experiences, and reduce uncertainty while exploring the city. By combining narrative articles with searchable listings and clear accessibility details, the resource supports a smoother, more confident visit for people with disabilities and their companions.
