Sagamore Hotel Miami Beach: Art Deco Luxury on the Oceanfront

Arrival/Check-In: I arrived at the Sagamore Hotel around 11 p.m. after a long day of work, a flight to Miami, renting a car and driving from the airport. The check-in was quick and effortless. Staff met me outside the property and guided me to the front desk. The lobby was quiet and calm, which immediately put me at ease. The receptionist completed my check-in in a matter of minutes. A hotel attendant took my luggage and escorted me to the suite, giving a helpful tour of the room before leaving.

Guest Quarters: My oceanfront suite was one of the most spacious rooms I have experienced. My first instinct was to open the curtains and take in the view. The balcony overlooked the ocean and the beach, situated just beyond the attractive pool area — a perfect spot for a morning coffee. The suite featured a living area separate from the bedroom. The living room included a full-sized sofa bed, a large flat-screen television, a compact kitchenette and a substantial desk with convenient, easy-to-access power outlets. Two glass doors led into the bedroom, which housed a comfortable king-sized bed, two bedside tables and another flat-screen TV. The décor was clean and fresh, dominated by white and neutral tones that created a peaceful ambience. Opposite the bed, a doorway opened into the bathroom, which offered a generously sized bathtub with whirlpool jets as well as a shower.

Services and Amenities: The spa, located on an upper floor, provides exceptional ocean views and offers both indoor and outdoor spaces to suit Miami’s warm climate. The fitness center sits near the pool area at the back of the hotel. Though compact, the gym is well-appointed with modern equipment. For outdoor workouts, there is direct access through the pool gate to a beachfront path — ideal for early morning runs or walks. Dining options included in-room dining and the Gallery Dining Room, where I enjoyed a pleasant breakfast. The hotel also provides thoughtful conveniences such as complimentary in-room WiFi, bottled water and a stocked minibar.

The Experience: My stay at the Sagamore was delightful. Known as The Art Hotel, the property is filled with artwork that contributes to its distinctive personality. White walls are adorned with impressive paintings and striking photographs, while sculptures and projected art installments add dynamic visual interest. Even an otherwise ordinary staircase becomes a creative display, with each step painted by a different student from the New World School of Arts. The family-owned atmosphere gives the property warmth and character, setting it apart from more conventional hotels. Service throughout my stay was professional and unobtrusive, and I had no issues. I left with a strong desire to return on a future visit.
