Hats and boots are encouraged at the Alisal Guest Ranch & Resort in Solvang, California, where vintage cottages and suites are television-free and the cowboys are authentic. This historic 1946 ranch, located just north of Santa Barbara, debuts a new autumn event: the Alisal Wine Ghetto Weekend (Oct. 25–27). The weekend celebrates Central Coast winemakers from the Santa Rita Hills who operate under the Lompoc Wine Ghetto name.
Featured wineries for the inaugural weekend include Palmina, Zotovich Cellars, Longoria, New Vineland and Samsara. Arrival is Friday afternoon, followed by an evening barbecue prepared by ranch chef Pascal Gode where guests can meet the winemakers. Entertainment continues after dinner in the Cottonwood Room.
Saturday begins with a hayride through the hills to breakfast at the Old Adobe and continues with the California Harvest celebration in the Ghetto. The day’s program includes food trucks, gourmet tastings, barrel and tank samplings, production tours, live music and an authentic wine crush experience. On Sunday the weekend concludes with a farewell brunch featuring Palmina sparkling wine mimosas.
The three-day, two-night package includes studio accommodations for two, all meals and wine pairings, transportation between the ranch and the California Harvest Party, a selection of welcome amenities and special gifts, plus taxes and service charges. The price, based on double occupancy, is $1,695 per couple; suite upgrades are available on request.
This event highlights a relaxed, rural wine experience where guests can enjoy hands-on tastings, behind-the-scenes tours and the hospitality of a classic guest ranch. The combination of local winemakers, farm-style cuisine and scenic countryside creates an immersive weekend that showcases the region’s wine and agricultural traditions.
Whether you’re a dedicated wine enthusiast or seeking a laid-back autumn getaway, the Alisal Wine Ghetto Weekend offers an intimate setting to taste Santa Rita Hills wines, meet the people who make them and enjoy a timeless ranch atmosphere.
