The skies above Montréal’s La Ronde amusement park sparkle and the surface of Dolphin Lake glows during the 34th edition of L’International des Feux Loto-Québec fireworks competition, running July 7–August 8. Audiences gather nightly to watch pyromusical shows—carefully choreographed fireworks synchronized to musical scores.

The festival brings together some of the world’s leading pyrotechnic teams to present dazzling nighttime performances. The program opens with a tribute to Sweden’s iconic pop group ABBA, and the finale draws on themes from the James Bond film franchise. Participating countries and their show titles include:
- Austria — “Let’s Dance,” July 11
- China — “The Butterfly Lovers,” July 14
- Canada — “Immortals,” July 18
- Philippines — “Of Games and Thrones,” July 21
- United States — “Rock Loves… Redux,” July 28
- Australia — “Shapeshifter,” August 8
Each presentation combines music, choreography, and cutting-edge pyrotechnics to create immersive spectacles that vary in style and tone. Some shows emphasize dramatic orchestral arrangements, while others lean into contemporary tracks, pop tributes, or narrative-driven sequences. The result is a diverse lineup that appeals to families, couples, and fireworks enthusiasts alike.
Beyond the visual display, organizers often enhance the experience with synchronized lighting on the lake, carefully timed sound systems, and themed production elements that reinforce each show’s concept. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early for good viewing positions around Dolphin Lake and to consult the festival schedule for exact start times and any special presentations.
Safety measures are enforced throughout the event, with clear spectator zones and professional teams handling all pyrotechnic operations. The competition format also adds an element of excitement, as audiences and judges respond to each country’s artistic and technical achievements over the month-long run.
Whether you’re drawn by the music, the artistry of the fireworks, or the festive atmosphere at La Ronde, L’International des Feux offers a memorable summer highlight in Montréal’s cultural calendar.
