As temperatures rise, Helsinki bursts into color with citywide celebrations and abundant blooms. For a different kind of excursion, leave your shopping bags at the hotel and take the waterbus from Market Square to Lonna, the city’s restored recreational island. Once used by the Russian Army to store mines, Lonna now offers a restaurant and café, picnic baskets and a relaxed island atmosphere perfect for a spring or summer outing.
