Meliá Hotel Opens in Venezuela: What to Know Before You Go

Meliá Hotels International, Spain’s leading hotel group, has announced plans to expand its presence in Venezuela with a third property, Meliá Puerto Ordaz. Slated to open in 2015, the five-star hotel will be situated in Bolívar state in the southern part of the country, in the central area of Los Saltos de Puerto Ordaz.

The new Meliá Puerto Ordaz will offer 150 guest rooms and suites designed to meet both leisure and business travelers’ needs. Facilities will include a signature restaurant, a lobby bar, an outdoor pool, a fitness center and a spa. The property will also provide dedicated meeting and event spaces suitable for conferences, weddings and other gatherings.

This opening is part of Meliá’s broader expansion across Latin America. The group currently operates 63 hotels in 12 countries throughout the region and has announced plans to launch approximately 15 additional properties across Brazil, Chile, Peru, Venezuela, Cuba and Costa Rica. Globally, Meliá’s portfolio comprises more than 350 hotels across four continents, represented under several brands including Gran Meliá, Meliá, ME by Meliá, Innside, Tryp by Wyndham, Sol and Paradisus.

The arrival of Meliá Puerto Ordaz reinforces the company’s strategy to strengthen its footprint in key Latin American markets while offering upscale accommodation and comprehensive facilities that appeal to a wide range of travelers. With established brand standards, the new hotel aims to combine local character and international service levels to enhance the hospitality options available in Bolívar state.
