Thinking of a reason to visit Western Canada? The Whistler Village Beer Festival returns to Whistler Olympic Plaza from Sept. 11–16 for six days dedicated to craft brewing. The festival features cask nights, beer battles, culinary pairings and a wide range of tasting events.
Live music echoes across the slopes while attendees explore offerings from more than 60 breweries and sample over 130 beers and ciders. General festival admission typically includes 10 beer tokens, an official Whistler Village Beer Festival sampling mug and access to food vendors and exhibitors.
Breweries expected to appear include Fuggles & Warlock Craftworks, BC Tree Fruits Cider Co., Lighthouse Brewing Co., The Parkside Brewery, Moody Ales, Salt Spring Island Ales, Steel & Oak Brewing Co. and Yellow Dog Brewing Co., among others, giving visitors a broad selection of regional and specialty beers.
Nearby, on Sept. 14 the TELUS Golf Classic takes place at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Golf Club. The event features an 18-hole Texas Scramble format with activities and tastings on course. Entry for a foursome covers greens fees, a power cart, range balls, a welcome gift package, a sleeve of golf balls, picnic lunch, on-course refreshments, a sweepstakes ticket, reception appetizers, live entertainment and a buffet dinner. Registration typically opens at 10 a.m. with an 11:30 a.m. shotgun start.
The entry cost is listed at $1,800 per foursome. After play, an after-party sponsored by Samsung is held in the Frontenac Ballroom at the Fairmont Chateau Whistler Hotel.
