Baekje Historic Areas, Republic of Korea
The Baekje archaeological sites encompass a collection of fortresses, tombs, temples, and palace remains dating back to the Baekje kingdom, established around 475 CE. Notable locations include Gongsanseong Fortress, which once housed a royal palace and follows the contours of mountain peaks along the Geumgang River. The ensemble of ruins and relics illustrates the artistic, political, and technological achievements of one of Korea’s Three Kingdoms.
