Diyarbakir Fortress and Hevsel Gardens, Turkey
Located in southeastern Turkey, Diyarbakir Fortress and its adjoining Hevsel Gardens form an ancient fortified city whose inner castle, extensive city walls, gates, and green spaces remain largely in their original locations. The site occupies a fertile corridor that served as a strategic trade and cultural crossroads from Roman times through the Ottoman era.
