1 Hotel Seattle Opens Waterfront Luxury Eco-Resort in Washington

1 Hotels, the nature-inspired luxury lifestyle brand founded by hospitality visionary Barry Sternlicht, has opened reservations for 1 Hotel Seattle, its new property in the vibrant South Lake Union neighborhood. Positioned at the intersection of Seattle’s growing biotech and technology sectors, 1 Hotel Seattle offers an urban retreat that pairs sustainable luxury with the restorative beauty of the Pacific Northwest.

“Seattle has always been a city that values sustainability, innovation, and connection to nature,” said Sternlicht, founder of 1 Hotels and chairman of SH Hotels & Resorts. “With 1 Hotel Seattle, we have created a property that reflects the city’s natural surroundings while advancing our mission to redefine luxury hospitality through sustainable practices.”

From the moment guests arrive, 1 Hotel Seattle aims to create a tranquil sanctuary that channels the spirit of the region. The expansive, light-filled lobby features a prominent living wall of cascading greenery and a large fireplace framed by tiles from a local ceramics studio, forming a warm, inviting space for relaxation and conversation.

The hotel comprises 153 guestrooms, including 45 suites, each designed as a personal sanctuary where nature and comfort coexist. Generous windows bring abundant natural light and frame sweeping city views. Interiors take cues from the Pacific Northwest’s landscapes, incorporating reclaimed wood finishes, stone-clad millwork, moss-inspired art installations, and live-edge furniture crafted by Seattle artisans. Amenities are carefully selected to enhance guest comfort while reducing environmental impact.

Dining at 1 Hotel Seattle focuses on sustainable, globally influenced cuisine. Led by Chef Oscar Amador Edo, the hotel’s signature restaurant, La Loba, blends culinary traditions from Barcelona, the Mediterranean, and Japan with local Pacific Northwest ingredients. La Loba — Spanish for “the she-wolf” — embodies resilience and independence, reflected in a menu that is bold and inventive. The culinary program is complemented by precision-crafted cocktails and a boutique wine selection curated by Joseph Mikulich. The restaurant’s warm, tactile design, featuring natural materials and earthy textures, encourages social connection. The lobby bar and lounge, highlighted by an illuminated art wall, serves as a lively social hub for guests and locals throughout the day and evening.

For events and meetings, 1 Hotel Seattle provides versatile spaces including the Rainier Ballroom, which opens onto an outdoor terrace and features floor-to-ceiling windows with views of the Space Needle. Multiple meeting rooms equipped with modern audiovisual technology accommodate a range of gatherings, from intimate meetings to larger celebrations.

Wellness amenities include The Field House, a fitness center stocked with Peloton bikes, resistance treadmills, and a curated selection of workout experiences. Guest bathrooms are stocked with 1 Hotels Signature Bath Products, a conscious product line formulated by Bamford Wellness Spa.

Sustainability is integral to the hotel’s design and operations. Features include energy-efficient smart thermostats, low-VOC materials, and advanced air quality management systems. In partnership with Foodprint Group, the property aims to divert more than 90 percent of its waste from landfills. The hotel has moved away from single-use plastics in favor of reusable glassware and compostable alternatives. Small, thoughtful touches—such as inspirational quotes on hangers and informational chalkboards in guestrooms—invite guests to consider their personal environmental impact and support the hotel’s broader sustainability goals.
