The first resort outside Athens from the contemporary, culture-driven YES! Hotels Group has opened on the Greek island of Santorini. Located adjacent to the charming Messaria village and a short drive from the airport, Nous Santorini blends the island’s past with contemporary comfort and luxury.

Nous Santorini comprises 121 rooms and suites, combining renovated existing hotel units with newly extended buildings. The resort features multiple dining and bar areas, retail spaces, a vitamin and health bar, a full wellness center, both indoor and outdoor pools, and a dramatic 10,000-square-foot central pool that anchors the property.
Designed by Divercity Architects in collaboration with MPLUSM Architects, the hotel interprets Santorini’s landscape through contemporary architecture and thoughtful detailing. A ceremonial arrival promenade leads guests beneath three successive pergolas that act as suspended, aerial gardens draped in climbing ivy. A gently flowing watercourse runs over stepped lava slabs as a deliberate reference to the island’s volcanic heritage.

At reception, visitors are welcomed by a carved black wall that echoes the dark volcanic rocks visible from the sea—a defining image for anyone arriving in Santorini. The reception space opens toward the central pool and sits near the curved spa building, whose sinuous forms unfold into the terrain. The spa’s architecture evokes the island’s natural ravines carved into the earth, a key characteristic of many historic settlements on Santorini.
Inside the spa, white-brick filters create porous boundaries and an interplay of light and shadow, recalling architectural techniques used during the island’s reconstruction after the 1956 earthquake. The hotel’s palette draws directly from Santorini’s geological layers: graphite and black tones juxtapose with warm reds, ochre, and deep browns to create a grounded, authentic atmosphere.

The classic off-white Cycladic palette is refined here to deliver a luxurious guest experience. Floors in the restaurant, bar and stairways mix terrazzo with fragmented colored marbles, introducing playful rhythm and visual flow that unify the shared spaces.
A curated collection of artworks enriches corridors and communal areas with surprising, contemporary touches. Suites are arranged across stepped levels to maximize sea views and to reflect the layered topography of Santorini’s cliffside villages. Carefully composed wall geometries frame panoramas while preserving guest privacy, revealing views progressively as one moves through the space.

Guestroom interiors are bright and inviting, layered with terrazzo surfaces and tactile finishes. Timber cladding is smoke-treated to reference the island’s volcanic character, while select lighting fixtures incorporate volcanic stone. Fabric partitions and upholstery follow an earthy, textured color scheme, reinforcing the connection between the design and Santorini’s dramatic natural palette.
