Dutch carrier KLM has announced a redesign and expansion of its international Crown Lounge at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport. The refurbishment will be carried out in phases so the lounge can remain operational throughout the work, with a planned reopening in spring 2019.
The renovation increases capacity from 800 to 1,400 guests, allowing more travelers to enjoy the lounge’s facilities. KLM describes the project as a complete transformation of the interior, introducing a fresh, contemporary look designed to enhance the customer experience.
Technology and service are central to the redesign. The lounge will be equipped with updated technology and new service concepts, covering dining and refreshments, staff service models, logistics and kitchen layout. The airline positions the project as creating “the lounge of the future,” focused on comfort, efficiency and a modern guest experience.
Located between Pier E and Pier F on the terminal’s second floor, KLM’s Crown Lounge currently serves business-class passengers on intercontinental flights. As part of the expansion, the lounge footprint will extend up to the third floor, increasing space and amenities for travelers while preserving access during construction.
