The world’s largest hot springs pool is located at Glenwood Hot Springs Resort in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, about a 2.5-hour drive west of Denver. This summer the resort expanded its relaxation options with the opening of Yampah Mineral Baths on the east end of the historic pool. The new baths include five spacious pools fed by the on-site Yampah Source Spring, a shaded pergola and an outdoor lounge area with a fireplace, all designed to enhance soaking and unwinding.

Yampah Mineral Baths is designed for both adults and children during the day and becomes adults-only after 5 p.m. The five pools vary in temperature and feature design elements such as waterfalls, infinity edges and a natural stone grotto. Temperatures range from a chilly 52–60°F in the Inhale cold water therapy pool up to 100–104°F in the warmer Cascade Waters. Cold plunges are popular for post-workout recovery and are associated with reduced inflammation, improved mood, immune support and metabolic benefits.
The spring was known to the Ute people as Yampah, meaning “big medicine,” reflecting its long history as a therapeutic source. The Yampah Source Spring supplies the resort with a continuous flow of 122°F mineral water at roughly 3.5 million gallons per day. That water fills the new Yampah Mineral Baths and the resort’s historic Grand Pool and Therapy Pool. It is also used to heat the resort’s 107-room lodge and historic bathhouse, melt ice and snow from sidewalks and pool decks, and supply hot water for showers, the athletic club and on-site laundry facilities.

“We are thrilled to unveil Yampah Mineral Baths for the summer season,” said Kevin Flohr, president and CEO of Glenwood Hot Springs Resort. “This new area is designed to be a meditative place to soak in the warm geothermal waters, try cold contrast therapy and relax in a beautiful mountain environment.”
With Yampah Mineral Baths, the resort now offers a full spectrum of aquatic experiences: a serene and refined soaking area on the east end, two historic pools in the center, and a family-friendly zone on the west end. Guests can spend a full day at the property and find the environment that best suits their needs—quiet relaxation, historic ambiance, or family fun.

The resort also features a full-service athletic club, a retail shop and poolside dining options including the Grill and snack bar. During summer months, Red Brick Eats provides additional food and beverage service on the west end of the pool. From May 24 through Sept. 2 the resort extends pool hours to 8 a.m.–10 p.m., and the Sopris Splash Zone is open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
