WestJet Offers Year-Round Flights to Europe

WestJet is expanding its transatlantic network by converting two seasonal nonstop routes to London Gatwick (LGW) into year-round services. The Calgary (YYC)–London route and the Toronto (YYZ)–London route will now operate through the winter months, with Calgary offering three weekly flights and Toronto providing daily service. Other Canadian gateways — Vancouver (YVR), Edmonton (YEG), Winnipeg (YWG) and St. John’s (YYT) — will continue to serve London on a seasonal basis, as previously announced in September 2015.

“This step represents a significant advance in WestJet’s international growth,” said Chris Avery, vice president of network planning, alliances and corporate development at WestJet. “Offering year-round transatlantic service on our Boeing 767-300ER aircraft gives both business and leisure travelers the flexibility to benefit from our competitive fares, strong value proposition and consistent onboard experience whenever they need to travel between Canada and Europe.”

With the move to year-round operations on these two key routes, WestJet strengthens connectivity between major Canadian cities and London, supporting continued demand for transatlantic travel and providing improved scheduling options for passengers who require consistent service throughout the year. The expanded schedules aim to better serve corporate travelers, visiting friends and relatives, and vacationers seeking reliable connections during traditionally slower winter months.

WestJet’s fleet of Boeing 767-300ER aircraft is configured to meet the needs of long-haul travelers, delivering a combination of comfort and efficiency for the transatlantic market. By maintaining seasonal service from additional Canadian cities while establishing permanent winter schedules from Calgary and Toronto, WestJet balances capacity with demand patterns across its network.

Passengers flying these year-round routes can expect the airline’s standard onboard offerings, which emphasize value and a consistent guest experience. As WestJet continues to develop its international footprint, these schedule changes reflect the carrier’s strategy to increase frequency and reliability on high-demand corridors while preserving seasonal options where appropriate.
