WATG, one of the world’s leading integrated design firms, has unveiled four new properties in Hawai’i just in time to escape the winter chill. Each project reflects the islands’ natural beauty, cultural traditions and the refined hospitality for which WATG has been known since the firm began in Hawai’i in 1945.
Four Seasons Maui
Working with interior design partner Wimberly Interiors, WATG’s new portfolio includes Pacific Beach Hotel in Waikiki, Residence Inn by Marriott in Wailea, Four Seasons Resort in Maui and The Spa at the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Waikiki. Each property presents a distinct interpretation of island design while maintaining the timeless elegance and luxury associated with these brands.
The Four Seasons Resort in Maui channels the ancient traditions of the Hawaiian Islands through architecture and interiors inspired by the surrounding landscape. Design cues echo the island’s white-sand beaches, clear blue waters and lush topography. The result is a refined, residential atmosphere defined by clean lines, tailored details and a fresh, elegant palette.
In Waikiki, the Pacific Beach Hotel—part of a larger $115 million redevelopment—has been reimagined with new guestroom designs and a contemporary beach-house aesthetic that celebrates Hawaiian character. The project is set to reemerge in fall 2017 as Alohilani Resort and aims to blend modern comfort with a strong sense of place.
The Residence Inn by Marriott in Wailea is designed for extended stays, combining resort-style amenities with the practical comforts of a long-term residence. The property features an open-air lobby with ocean views, 200 rooms and contemporary suites that include fully equipped kitchens, dedicated workspaces and generous balconies to enjoy panoramic island vistas.

The Spa at the Ritz-Carlton Residences in Waikiki, which opened last month, creates a calm, restorative environment using colors and textures drawn from Hawai’i’s natural landscape. A palette of blues and whites, paired with stone and timber accents, establishes a serene setting for elevated spa services and curated products.
“With Ritz-Carlton residents’ exacting standards in mind, the spa is more than just an amenity; it’s a lifestyle experience,” said Shaleah Soliven, associate at Wimberly Interiors.
Since its founding in 1945, WATG has designed numerous award-winning Hawai‘i properties, including Four Seasons Resort Maui at Wailea, The Fairmont Kea Lani and Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa. These four recent projects continue the firm’s long tradition of creating hospitality destinations that honor local culture and landscape while delivering exceptional design and guest experience.
