Lawrence Horwitz, executive vice president of Historic Hotels of America and Historic Hotels Worldwide, welcomed the induction, noting the hotel’s distinguished Beaux-Arts architecture and long history since its construction in 1901. He praised The Wall Street Hotel, the Paspaley Family, and the hotel’s leadership for their careful preservation efforts and stewardship, which ensure future generations can enjoy this historic destination.

Situated in Lower Manhattan’s Financial District within the Tontine Building—the site connected to the origins of the New York Stock Exchange—the property has endured fires and many changes over the decades. To qualify for the Historic Hotels of America program, a property must be at least 50 years old, be recognized for its historical significance, and be designated by the U.S. Secretary of the Interior as a National Historic Landmark or be eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The Wall Street Hotel meets these criteria.

The Wall Street Hotel’s designation highlights ongoing efforts to protect and celebrate the architectural and cultural heritage of Lower Manhattan. As part of the Historic Hotels of America collection, the hotel joins a network of properties that showcase distinctive histories and preserved character, while continuing to deliver contemporary hospitality and service to today’s travelers.
