Virgin America Marks 8th Anniversary With Special Celebrations

Virgin America is marking its eighth anniversary with special celebrations. To honor the San Francisco–based airline, San Francisco Mayor Edwin M. Lee declared August 8 as Virgin America Day.

“As we celebrate eight years of bringing the fun back to flying, I’d like to thank our loyal flyers as well as our nearly 3,000 Virgin America teammates for their tireless commitment to creating the best possible experience for our guests,” said David Cush, president and CEO of Virgin America. “We’ve continued to refine the in-flight experience and have earned some of the travel industry’s most distinguished awards. We look forward to celebrating many more anniversaries with our guests and to continuing to provide an unparalleled flying experience.”

Anniversary activities will continue at AT&T Park on August 15, when the Official Airline of the San Francisco Giants hosts “Virgin America Night” as the Giants face the Washington Nationals. Special Olympics athlete and Northern California native Jose Ayala, who recently won a silver medal in the javelin at the Special Olympics World Games, will throw the ceremonial first pitch. The first 40,000 people through the gates on August 15 will receive a two-for-one Virgin America flight voucher (terms, conditions and blackout dates apply).
