Virgin America Launches New Flights to Hawaii: What to Know

Virgin America is adding nonstop service from the San Francisco Bay Area to Hawaii this year. Flights from San Francisco International Airport (SFO) to Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu (HNL) will begin on November 2, followed by service to Kahului Airport (OGG) on Maui starting December 3.

David Cush, president and CEO of Virgin America, said the new Hawaii routes respond to strong demand from Bay Area travelers. “Hawaii is one of the most requested leisure destinations among our customers,” Cush said. “As we expand our fleet with new Airbus aircraft and grow the Elevate rewards program, launching nonstop service to the islands is a natural next step. Our Bay Area business and leisure travelers have asked for more options to fly in comfort, and we’re pleased to deliver a stylish, elevated travel experience to two of the most popular Hawaiian airports.”

Virgin America will operate daily flights on both routes using newly delivered Airbus A320 aircraft. The airline’s first-class cabin features white leather seats with 55 inches of pitch, up to 165 degrees of recline and integrated lumbar massagers, providing a premium onboard experience for travelers bound for Hawaii. With the addition of Honolulu and Kahului, Virgin America will serve its 22nd and 23rd destinations from its California hub.

The new nonstop SFO–HNL and SFO–OGG flights create more convenient travel options for Bay Area residents and visitors traveling for leisure or business. Daily departures will make it easier to plan short getaways, extended vacations, and island-hopping itineraries without connections. The enhanced schedule also supports travelers who seek premium seating and a high level of onboard service when flying to Hawaii’s beaches, resorts, and outdoor attractions.

These route additions align with the carrier’s broader growth strategy, which includes taking delivery of modern Airbus aircraft and expanding loyalty rewards to offer more benefits and destinations. Travelers can expect Virgin America’s signature combination of comfortable seating, attentive service and a smooth travel experience on flights between the Bay Area and Hawaii.

Travelers interested in planning trips to Honolulu or Maui can watch for the carrier’s schedule and booking options as the launch dates approach. The new nonstop service from San Francisco to Honolulu and Kahului broadens travel choices for those seeking direct connections from the Bay Area to two of Hawaii’s most popular islands.
