Villa Monticello Ghana Celebrates 5 Years as Boutique Luxury Hotel

With numerous accolades—including Ghana’s Leading Hotel for four consecutive years, the World Luxury Business Hotel award, and a Conde Nast Johansens finalist spot for Best Service in 2016—Villa Monticello is widely regarded as the first boutique luxury hotel in Ghana. Located in Accra, this intimate property features 16 individually decorated luxury suites, each named after a notable person or place, such as Nelson Mandela and Kwame Nkrumah.

The hotel offers refined event options for both leisure and business: the events team can organize elegant soirées, cocktail receptions, workshops or corporate meetings around the peaceful pool, on the glass-enclosed terrace, or in private rooms that overlook the tranquil indoor courtyard and landscaped gardens. These versatile spaces are ideal for intimate gatherings and bespoke celebrations.

Villa Monticello’s Chapter One restaurant is led by Chef Ruby Paintsil, who crafts a menu that blends contemporary techniques with African influences and celebrates Ghana’s finest local ingredients. The restaurant presents a creative African-fusion dining experience and also serves a lavish afternoon tea. Signature dishes demonstrate the kitchen’s inventive approach, such as braised snail ravioli with spinach and equsi confit topped with spinach foam; globe artichoke hearts layered with ratatouille and goat cheese, paired with sweet potato gnocchi, rocket and balsamic onions; and decadent desserts like the plantain and banana tart served with poached banana ice cream and white chocolate sauce.

The culinary program is complemented by a curated wine list that highlights selections from South African and international boutique vineyards, chosen to enhance the flavors of each dish and provide a balanced pairing for a sophisticated meal.
