To many, the Lake of the Ozarks region in Missouri evokes the world of the hit Netflix series Ozark. The drama follows Marty Byrde and his family as they navigate a dangerous money-laundering scheme. While much of the series was filmed in Georgia, the show’s sweeping lakeside and mountain scenes were inspired by and shot around the Lake of the Ozarks.
Two hours south through the scenic Ozark Mountains lies Table Rock Lake, home to Camp Long Creek at Big Cedar Lodge. Founded by Johnny Morris, the creator of Bass Pro Shops, Big Cedar Lodge provides a polished yet authentic outdoor experience. The property is defined by lush forest, clear water, and panoramic views that appeal to a wide range of travelers who love nature and recreation.
Camp Long Creek includes 56 accommodations ranging from cozy camp cabins and shepherd huts to upscale canvas tents. The recently added Buffalo Ridge cottages feature expansive vistas of the Ozark ridgeline and overlook Payne’s Valley, the golf course designed by Tiger Woods. These cottages offer amenities such as wood-burning fireplaces, covered porches with grills, and private outdoor fire pits—perfect for evening stargazing. The property is especially well suited for couples, friend groups, and families who enjoy water sports and fishing.
On-site activities focus on the lake. Water-skiing and wakeboarding classes teach riders how to balance and maneuver at higher speeds; excursions include complimentary towels and lemonade. The Long Creek Marina provides access to productive fishing areas where anglers commonly target bass and crappie, making it a popular destination for both novice and experienced fishermen.

For lakeside dining, the 65-foot yacht Lady Liberty provides a memorable option. The two-hour sunset cruise includes dinner and live music; other sailings offer brunch or a fireworks-viewing dinner. The yacht accommodates up to 41 guests and can be reserved for private events. Additional dining venues at Big Cedar Lodge include the Buffalo Bar, which pairs panoramic views with a relaxed bar menu; the casual Devil’s Pool; Truman Café and Custard for lighter fare; and the Mill and Canyon Grill Restaurant, set beside cascading waterfalls for an elevated dining atmosphere.
Camp Long Creek welcomes dogs, allowing up to two pets per accommodation so guests can bring canine companions on their escape. Note that Big Cedar Lodge’s main campus is a dog-free zone, with the exception of service animals.
