United Launches Premium Plus Cabin: What Travelers Need to Know

United Airlines plans to introduce a premium-economy cabin called Premium Plus on select international routes beginning in late 2018.

Details about the new cabin’s exact seat configuration, cabin size and the specific aircraft or routes that will carry Premium Plus have not yet been released.

United has said the cabin will offer passengers increased space and comfort along with enhanced amenities. Announced features include upgraded dinnerware, complimentary alcoholic beverages, an amenity kit and a Saks Fifth Avenue blanket and pillow, according to the airline’s blog.

Premium-economy offerings are already available from other major U.S. carriers on certain widebody aircraft. American Airlines offers a premium-economy product on its Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner, while Delta Air Lines provides a similar cabin on its Airbus A350.

The introduction of Premium Plus follows United’s recent rollout of the Polaris business-class product, which debuted in April 2017 and is available on flights to Asia-Pacific destinations such as Hong Kong (HKG), Taipei (TSA), Beijing (PEK) and Tokyo (NRT).
