United Airlines now offers more business-class seats on flights between London and the New York City area than any other U.S. carrier. This change comes as the airline begins deploying newly reconfigured Boeing 767-300ER aircraft on routes connecting New York/Newark and London Heathrow (LHR).
The updated cabin layout adds 16 more United Polaris business-class seats, bringing the total to 46 premium-cabin seats per aircraft. In addition to Polaris, each reconfigured 767-300ER provides 22 United Premium Plus seats, 47 Economy Plus seats, and 52 standard economy seats, enhancing the range of options available to travelers.
United redesigned the cabins to increase both capacity and comfort while preserving an efficient layout. The airline’s adjustments respond to growing passenger interest in premium seating, particularly on transatlantic routes. By offering more Polaris and Premium Plus seats, United aims to better meet demand for spacious, higher-comfort travel between the New York City area and London.
“By reconfiguring aircraft and adding more space and seats, and ultimately comfort, we are committed to making United the airline that customers choose to fly,” said Andrew Nocella, chief commercial officer, United Airlines. “We have seen an increase in customer demand for premium seats and we’re excited to be able to expand the number of seats on all of our flights between New York/Newark and London.”
The increase in premium seating is part of broader fleet and service adjustments that airlines routinely make to match market demand. For passengers, the changes mean more opportunities to secure premium cabins on popular transatlantic schedules without changing times or frequency. Travelers seeking extra legroom or enhanced service can now find more available options across United’s 767-300ER flights on the New York–London corridor.
As carriers continue to refine their product offerings, cabin reconfigurations like United’s reflect a shift toward prioritizing premium experiences on long-haul routes. The additional Polaris seats offer more privacy and comfort for business and leisure travelers alike, while Premium Plus expands a mid-tier choice for those who want an upgrade from economy without fully moving into the Polaris cabin.
Passengers booking between New York/Newark and London should see the updated seat maps and availability as the reconfigured 767-300ER aircraft enter service. These cabin changes illustrate how airlines adjust equipment and seating to align with evolving traveler preferences and to remain competitive on high-demand international routes.
