Tauck has revealed the names and artist renderings of two new river ships joining its fleet next year. The vessels will be called m/s Serene, which will operate on the River Seine in France, and m/s Lumière, which will sail the Rhône.

The names were chosen from more than 1,000 suggestions submitted by travel advisors, guests and employees. CEO Jennifer Tombaugh said the name Serene evokes tranquility and renewal—qualities associated with the gently flowing Seine and the tranquil scenes immortalized by Impressionist painters such as Monet and Renoir.
Lumière, named for the Rhône, reflects a livelier character and is described as “a spark of inspiration,” a fitting image for a river that supports dynamic itineraries and vibrant landscapes.

Released renderings show the ships’ exterior lines along with public spaces such as the Sun Deck and wellness area, plus a Category 5 suite. On m/s Serene, the accommodation plan includes 30 cabins of approximately 225 square feet—primarily located on the middle Ruby Deck—and 12 Category 1 cabins on the lower Emerald Deck, giving the vessel a total capacity of 124 guests. m/s Lumière will be slightly larger, with capacity for about 130 guests.
In addition to the new ships, Tauck is introducing an 11-day itinerary, Bordeaux, Paris & The Seine, which will be served by Serene. The line’s expansion coincides with Tauck’s upcoming 100th anniversary in 2025, marking a significant moment in the company’s river-cruise program development.
