SWISS Expands Route Network with 34 New Destinations

SWISS is expanding its route network significantly from Zurich (ZRH) and Geneva (GVA), adding new destinations and increasing frequencies on a range of European and intercontinental services.

Beginning with the 2015 summer schedules on March 29, SWISS will introduce 22 new destinations from Zurich. Several of these connections strengthen non-stop links to neighboring countries: Leipzig (LEJ) and Dresden (DRS) in Germany; Toulouse (TLS) in France; Graz (GRZ) in Austria; and Bari (BRI), Naples (APF) and Brindisi (BDS) in Italy. Seasonal flights to Palermo (PMO), which began in 2014, will be upgraded to year-round service.

Zurich’s expanded network will also include new destinations such as Thessaloniki (SKG), Izmir (ADB), Malta (MLA), Bilbao (BIO), Gothenburg (GOT), Helsinki (HEL), Santiago de Compostela (SCQ), Riga (RIX), Ljubljana (LJU), Krakow (KRK), Sarajevo (SJJ), Sofia (SOF) and Zagreb (ZAG). In addition to these route launches, SWISS will increase frequencies on established routes to Copenhagen (CPH), Hamburg (HAM), Malaga (AGP), Palma de Mallorca (PMI), Stockholm (ARN) and Valencia (VLC). On the intercontinental side, services to San Francisco (SFO) will grow to 13 weekly flights during the peak summer months of July and August.

From Geneva, SWISS is also expanding its year-round network with six new non-stop destinations. Florence (FLR) will receive four weekly flights, while Valencia, Sarajevo and Skopje (SKP) will each be served twice weekly. Geneva will also gain new year-round links to Algiers (ALG) and Dublin (DUB). Seasonal routes from Geneva will include Biarritz (BIQ), Calvi (CLY), Palermo (PMO), Thessaloniki (SKG) and Zakynthos (ZTH).

SWISS will complement its scheduled services with additional leisure offerings operated in partnership with sister carrier Edelweiss. The summer program features popular long-haul destinations such as Havana (HAV), Vancouver (YVR) and Las Vegas (LAS). European beach destinations will see increased capacity, with higher frequencies to Antalya (AYT), Larnaca (LCA), Olbia (OLB), Split (SPU) and Ibiza (IBZ). Faro (FAO) and Catania (CTA) will join the network imminently, and Podgorica (TGD) and Corfu (CFU) will be added as well.

These additions and frequency increases reflect SWISS’s strategy to strengthen connectivity across Europe and beyond, offering more point-to-point options from its Swiss hubs and better serving both business and leisure travelers throughout the peak season and year-round.
