Outrigger Launches Community Service Programs for MICE Groups

Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort in Thailand now offers meeting clients a range of community outreach options.

The primary initiative supports Ban Bang Rong Primary School in the rural northeast of Phuket. After Outrigger hosts attended an internal conference in September last year, they committed to assisting the village school. Volunteers planted vegetables in the school garden, repainted restrooms and the canteen, reorganized the library, and donated educational games and learning materials.

These community service activities are now available for corporate conference groups meeting at Outrigger who wish to contribute to the school or participate in other projects supporting the broader Phuket community.

“The primary school has many ongoing needs,” said Tony Pedroni, general manager of Outrigger Laguna Phuket Beach Resort. “Recently we repaired the drinking water filtration system and installed a playground for the younger children.”

Organizers have also identified additional opportunities for meeting attendees to support island-wide community and environmental projects, allowing groups to tailor their involvement to causes that matter most to them.
