Arrival/Check-In: After a two-hour flight delay out of Philadelphia, my friend and I were eager to finally arrive in Charleston. We collected our luggage, called an Uber and headed straight to the French Quarter Inn. Our driver was friendly and knowledgeable, pointing out local sights as we drove past the hotel’s discreet entrance. It was early afternoon and our room was not quite ready, but the reception team — warm and welcoming — invited us to the terrace for a complimentary glass of Champagne while we waited, giving us a relaxed moment to unwind after a long day of travel.
Guest Quarters: The boutique property blends the charm of an intimate inn with the comforts of a modern luxury hotel. Each guestroom features evening turndown service, triple-sheeted European bedding, a 40-inch flat-screen TV, a Sound Sleep pillow menu and Blu-Ray DVD players. Our king junior suite offered a very comfortable king-sized bed with two nightstands, a sitting area that included a full-sized sofa bed, a small table and two chairs by the window, a desk and an entertainment center — plenty of space to spread out.
The oversized marble bathroom included a roomy walk-in shower and high-end bath amenities. The sink and vanity area felt a bit tight, as toiletries occupied much of the counter, but overall the bathroom was well-appointed and elegant.
Services/Amenities: The hotel provides a number of thoughtful touches throughout the day: a Champagne welcome on arrival, an evening wine-and-cheese reception, a nightly Port wine nightcap, and freshly baked cookies with milk each evening. These little rituals contribute to a distinctive, pampered experience you notice immediately.
French Quarter Inn also offers what it calls Signature Extras to personalize a stay. Guests can arrange in-room treatments, chocolate-covered strawberries, floral deliveries, private yoga sessions and more through the hotel’s website or concierge. The property also supports meetings and events with available function space.
