Station Ovation: Complete Guide to the Transit Hub Experience

Fully renovated and now home to an excellent selection of dining options, Denver’s historic Union Station has reopened. The station’s striking Beaux-Arts façade, designed by city architects Gove & Walsh in the early 1900s, provides an impressive entrance to the Great Hall.

More than a central passenger hub, the Great Hall also functions as the lobby for the newly opened Crawford Hotel, which blends historical character with modern luxury. The hotel offers thoughtful amenities such as a Tesla courtesy vehicle for short city trips, complimentary WiFi, rooms that evoke classic train cars, and notable sustainability features. Art is an integral part of the experience, with original photography, paintings, multimedia pieces and sculptures on display—many of which reflect themes of trains and travel.

Dining options at Union Station have been upgraded and expanded. The Kitchen Next Door Community Pub continues the “community through food” approach of founders Kimbal Musk and Hugo Matheson, offering approachable, locally focused dishes. Pigtrain Coffee serves a coffee bar and a patio that overlooks Wynkoop Plaza, creating a relaxed spot for visitors and commuters. For seafood lovers, Stoic & Genuine features an oyster bar, fresh seafood flown in daily, an international wine list and craft cocktails. Among its creative offerings are a variety of chilled granitas in flavors such as citrus-chili, lychee-sake, sherry Amontillado, tarragon-cucumber and heirloom tomato with horseradish.

With its restored architecture, thoughtful hotel amenities, diverse public art and an array of new restaurants and cafés, Union Station has reclaimed its role as a vibrant civic and travel hub in downtown Denver.
