Through March 17, Terminal 5 at John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York is celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with live busking and Irish whiskey tastings. The spirit of Dublin’s Grafton Street is brought to life in the terminal, offering travelers the sights, sounds and flavors of Ireland before they board.
Street-style performances are recreated using isolated sound projections, allowing visitors to enjoy the music in designated listening areas throughout the terminal. Uniformed staff wearing themed attire will invite passersby to participate with interactive instruments that are part of the installation. On display will be an authentic Irish hand drum and a unique xylophone made from Tullamore DEW bottles, each filled to different levels to produce distinct musical notes.
In addition to the musical elements, travelers can sample Tullamore DEW and receive coupons for discounts on duty-free purchases of the whiskey. The activation aims to provide a welcoming, festive experience that highlights Irish culture and offers a memorable way to mark St. Patrick’s Day while at the airport.
