Waldkirch

Known as “the organ town,” Waldkirch has a long tradition of crafting mechanical organs and other mechanical musical devices, like cuckoo clocks. The Elz Valley Museum showcases that heritage and offers insight into local craftsmanship. Close to town lie the ruins of Kastelburg, built around 1280 by the Lords of Schwarzenberg; you reach them via the Ritterweg path, flanked by life-sized knight statues. Around the market square you’ll find cafés and restaurants ideal for pausing during a shopping stroll and soaking in the town’s charming atmosphere.

Mosbach

Mosbach, situated in the Odenwald, is an excellent base for outdoor activities such as cycling, walking and hiking. The town’s Alte Mälzerei (old malthouse) hosts a rotating events program worth checking before you visit. Explore the local museum and admire Palm’sche Haus, one of many striking half-timbered buildings that give Mosbach its historic character.
