Shangri-La Hotels and Resorts will open its first United Kingdom hotel this summer. Perched on the South Bank of the River Thames between St. Paul’s Cathedral and the Tower of London, the Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard will occupy levels 34–52 of The Shard, the landmark glass skyscraper in central London.
The new property will feature 202 rooms and suites designed to combine modern comfort with subtle Asian influences, along with four distinct dining venues that showcase a range of cuisines and atmospheres. Guests will also have access to three flexible event rooms suitable for meetings and private functions, plus a 24-hour fitness center equipped for a full workout any time of day.
Greg Dogan, president and chief executive officer of Shangri-La International Hotel Management Ltd., described the arrival as a major milestone: “Shangri-La Hotel at The Shard, London will be a dramatic introduction of our signature Asian hospitality and style to the United Kingdom.” He added that international travellers already acquainted with Shangri-La will appreciate the panoramic views of London from the hotel, and that the property’s authentic and gracious Asian service will reflect the brand’s standards across its global portfolio.
Located within one of London’s most recognizable buildings, the hotel promises sweeping vistas across the city skyline and the River Thames, offering guests unique sightlines to many of London’s historic and cultural landmarks. The combination of elevated views, central riverside location and Shangri-La’s emphasis on attentive service aims to position the hotel as an appealing option for both business and leisure visitors to London.
With this opening, Shangri-La continues to expand its international presence while introducing its signature hospitality to the UK market. The hotel’s mix of contemporary design, dining choices, event facilities and wellness amenities is intended to meet the needs of discerning travellers seeking both comfort and a distinct sense of place in one of the world’s most visited cities.
