LYING ON A TABLE layered with warm quartz “sand” that cradled my body instead of a conventional massage table, I felt the tensions of daily life melt away with each stroke of the therapist’s hands. That profound relaxation followed a gentle, full-body dry brushing and a quiet soak in a deep Halo Tub. Was this heaven, or simply bliss?
I experienced the Ocean and Warm Sand Ritual at SeaHill Spa, located within The Cavalier Hotel in Virginia Beach, Virginia. This 100-minute treatment is divided into three customized stages, each with distinct benefits: dry brushing to remove toxins, reduce stress and stimulate circulation; a Halo Tub soak to further detoxify and support collagen renewal using warm water infused with wild gigartina algae; and a calming full-body massage to promote physical and mental relaxation. The entire ritual is performed in the spa’s private Wellness Room, which houses both the Halo Tub and the quartz massage table, so there’s no need to move between rooms. The quartz crystals, which mimic the feel of natural sand, conform ergonomically to the body and are believed by practitioners to help cleanse and rebalance the body’s chakras or energy centers.
SeaHill Spa opened earlier this year on the lower level of The Cavalier Hotel, a historic property that reopened after nearly $85 million in renovations. The spa’s concept blends traditional therapies with contemporary techniques and amenities to foster inner peace and balance across its nine treatment rooms. Beyond lounging in a treatment room, guests can extend their relaxation in the 6,200-square-foot facility that features a co-ed Himalayan Salt Room, a sauna, a steam room and a whirlpool. Just outside the spa, the hotel’s indoor pool and hot tub offer additional opportunities to unwind.
SeaHill’s facial offerings follow the ocean-inspired theme. One signature option is the 50-minute Ocean Crystal Facial, which uses aquamarine crystals designed to connect with the ocean’s restorative energy, help address signs of aging and promote uplifting flow. Another choice is the 50-minute Ocean Tailored Facial, an OSEA treatment that is 100 percent vegan and employs organic Patagonian seaweed to improve skin condition and appearance; this tailored facial also includes a cranial‑facial massage to encourage circulation and relaxation.

Beyond traditional massages and facials, SeaHill Spa offers a range of body therapies that incorporate the spa’s Hydro Capsule, a self-contained sensory system featuring steam, a shower, vibration massage and LED lighting. Treatments such as the Salts of the Earth Scrub or the Hydrating Wrap are enhanced by the capsule’s capabilities: therapists can complete scrubs, wraps and rinses seamlessly inside the unit, so guests do not need to move to an external shower or tub.
Couples can experience togetherness with four 120-minute treatments in the Couple’s Suite: the Aroma Balancing Retreat, the Magnesium Wellness Treatment, the Detox Ceremony, and the Bourbon Tea Nutri-Body Wrap, which makes use of The Cavalier’s own bourbon from its on-site distillery, Tarnished Truth Distilling Co. After treatments, couples can linger in the private suite’s soaking tub for two.
SeaHill Spa’s salon services cover everything from classic haircuts and blow-dries to coloring, styling and event looks. Manicures and pedicures are offered in a comfortable setting where the mani bar also serves as a blow-dry station. The salon’s spacious layout allows staff to host large groups and bridal parties, including makeup services for the wedding day.
With a broad menu of treatments and a tranquil, ocean-inspired environment, SeaHill Spa provides many ways to relax and restore. Whether you opt for a signature ritual, a therapeutic body treatment, a facial or salon services, the spa is designed to leave you feeling refreshed and centered—discovering your own version of bliss.
