Visitors to Savannah can now stay in one of eight beautifully renovated suites at the newly opened Printmaker’s Inn. Located on Gwinnett Street within Savannah’s National Historic Landmark District, the property brings together two restored historic homes with origins that span centuries.
Printmaker’s Inn comprises two adjacent mansions: the Hills-Galloway House, a Georgian-style residence first built in 1693, and the Nichols House, a Victorian Italianate home constructed in 1884. The buildings are joined by a private, gated brick courtyard that also serves as an event venue, suitable for weddings, corporate retreats and other gatherings of up to 125 guests.

The Hills-Galloway House has an unusual history: it originally stood on the Connecticut River in East Hartford, Connecticut. After decades of modifications, the structure was purchased in 2018, carefully dismantled, transported and reassembled in Savannah. During the restoration and relocation, modern comforts were added, including luxury bathrooms and secure WiFi, while preserving the home’s historical character.
Inside Hills-Galloway House, guests encounter period woodwork, original plaster details, a central fireplace and furnishings that evoke the home’s heritage, such as leather Chesterfield sofas, wingback chairs, a library and curated period artwork.

The neighboring Nichols House showcases Victorian-era Italianate architecture. Its original ceiling medallions, heart pine floors and other historic features remain intact, providing an authentic period atmosphere alongside contemporary amenities.
Guests may choose suites in either Hills-Galloway House or Nichols House. The Hills-Galloway accommodations include options such as the Captain Hills Suite, which features a king bed, an en-suite stocked with Savannah Bee Company toiletries, access to the attic lounge, a covered porch and complimentary private off-street parking. Guests also receive a local coffee shop discount.
Suites in Nichols House offer similar comforts: a king bed, free WiFi, an en-suite with Savannah Bee Company products, a Roku device with Sling TV, a private covered porch, complimentary private off-street parking and a discount at a nearby coffee shop.

For events and gatherings, the inn offers two bricked, intertwining courtyards and ample indoor and outdoor space across the two houses. The eight generous suites provide convenient spaces for getting ready, overnight accommodations for event guests, and photography backdrops. Hills-Galloway House’s attic lounge is a relaxed gathering area furnished with leather sofas, board games, a chess set and the 18th-century card game Whist. Visitors can also experience open-hearth cooking using the original bake oven preserved in Hills-Galloway House.
