San Corrado di Noto: Discover Sicily’s UNESCO World Heritage Gem

Opened in April 2022, Il San Corrado di Noto is the first boutique resort of its kind in Val di Noto, Sicily’s renowned UNESCO World Heritage area. Once an ancient masseria (large farm) owned by Prince Nicolaci, the property was transformed over three years into an all-suite retreat that blends historic character with contemporary comfort.

Positioned just outside the historic town of Noto, the resort is the first stylish, independently owned option for upscale travelers in this part of southeastern Sicily. The property comprises 26 suites and eight private pool villas, designed to provide generous space and privacy for couples, families and groups of friends.

Val di Noto is celebrated for its eight towns built in the elaborate southern Baroque style, and Il San Corrado di Noto serves as an elegant base for exploring the region’s rich culinary traditions, cultural sites, beaches and layered history that stretches back to antiquity.

The masseria’s 18th-century architecture has been carefully preserved. Architect Corrado Papa incorporated natural materials such as local Modica stone and green marble sourced from India. Skilled local stonemasons and woodworkers shaped these materials to accentuate the suites, public spaces and the original chapel, creating a cohesive aesthetic that honors the site’s history.

Set among citrus groves and ancient olive trees, the resort offers two swimming pools—including a 128-foot heated pool—along with a spa, fitness center and tennis court. During summer months, guests can also use a private beach club a short drive away, reached via a complimentary shuttle service.

All suites feature private outdoor patios, while the one- and two-bedroom pool villas provide additional options for guests seeking extra space and seclusion. Dining is anchored by two on-site restaurants: Casa Pasta, offering casual, authentic fare, and Principe di Belludia, an upscale destination highlighting seasonal produce from the region.

Room rates at Il San Corrado di Noto start from approximately €590 per night on a bed-and-breakfast basis. The resort is about an hour’s drive from Catania Airport and typically operates from mid-April through early November, making it a compelling choice for visitors seeking a refined, locally rooted stay in southeastern Sicily.
