Rosewood Vienna Hotel Opens: Luxury Stay in Austria’s Capital

Rosewood Vienna opened on August 1, marking Rosewood’s first hotel in the German-speaking market and its fifth property in Europe. Housed in a 19th-century building at Petersplatz, the hotel is moments from many of Vienna’s historic and cultural landmarks, including St. Stephen’s Cathedral and the Kunsthistorisches Museum. The property itself preserves a piece of musical history: it includes the apartment where Mozart lived and composed The Abduction from the Seraglio.

The hotel offers 71 spacious guestrooms and 28 suites within a former bank building, thoughtfully blending historic architectural details with references to Vienna’s rich art history. Contemporary artworks appear throughout the property and in many guestrooms. Salon Aurélie, the lobby lounge, features murals by Austrian artist Marie Hartig that depict palm fronds, flora and butterflies as a tribute to Vienna’s Palmenhaus Art Nouveau conservatory.

Culinary options include a sixth-floor brasserie and a rooftop bar on the seventh floor, both offering striking views over Vienna’s Old Town. On the fifth floor, Neue Hoheit is the hotel’s signature restaurant, designed with classic Austrian millwork to evoke the atmosphere of a traditional Viennese coffeehouse. The menu highlights seasonal market ingredients, serving European dishes alongside Austrian classics.

Guestrooms and suites occupy four of the hotel’s seven floors and are decorated in a warm, neutral palette. Each room features custom-made furnishings, handcrafted brass wall lights and a minibar finished in walnut, leather and locally sourced gray marble, all selected to create a calm, refined ambiance.

Rosewood Vienna is also home to Asaya Spa, the first Asaya outside of Asia. Spanning the fifth and sixth floors, the spa includes four treatment rooms, a social suite, relaxation areas, a sauna, a steam bath and an experience shower. Many spa spaces afford views of the dome and bell towers of St. Peter’s Church, creating a serene setting for wellness and restoration.
