Sporting a refreshed, contemporary look, Nuremberg’s former Bavarian-American Hotel has reopened as the Park Plaza Nuremberg. The 1930s building, notable for having housed judges and prosecutors during the Nuremberg trials and for hosting the launch of the U.S. Army’s Radio AFN on its top floor, has been sympathetically redesigned by Scott Brownrigg Interior Designs to blend historic character with modern comforts.
The redesign draws inspiration from local and historical figures such as mariner and astronomer Martin Behaim and Renaissance artist Albrecht Dürer. The hotel’s 177 guestrooms and suites showcase a refined palette of metallic pink gold, copper, purples and grays, along with shimmery textures that create a warm, contemporary atmosphere. Guestroom amenities include complimentary high-speed WiFi, mood lighting, Elemis bath products, generous workspaces and 48-inch Smart TVs.
Public areas reflect Nuremberg’s cultural heritage through carefully placed artwork and sculptures, including modern interpretations of Dürer’s Rhino and Behaim’s Erdapfel globe. Business travelers will find seven meeting rooms with theater-style seating, while leisure guests can use the modern fitness center and sauna. Dining options are available on-site at the hotel’s restaurant and bar.
Conveniently situated in Nuremberg’s historic district, the Park Plaza Nuremberg stands directly opposite Nuremberg Central Station, making it an accessible base for exploring the city’s museums, historic sites and cultural attractions.
