Qantas is expanding the availability of digital boarding passes, with Heathrow Airport among the latest locations to receive the service.
Having first introduced digital boarding passes on domestic routes and then on Trans‑Tasman flights between Australia and New Zealand in May 2017, the airline is now rolling the feature out progressively across its international network.
Eligible travellers can now complete check‑in, pass through passport checks online where available, and download a digital boarding pass directly to a mobile device for use at the gate. This streamlines the pre‑flight process and reduces the need to print paper documents.
Passengers who check in using a laptop or desktop can retrieve the boarding pass on a smartphone or tablet via the Manage Booking feature. Previously, customers who used a computer were required to print their boarding pass at home or at the airport before boarding.
Qantas plans to extend digital boarding pass functionality to its United States services and the remaining airports in its network before the end of the year, making mobile boarding more widely accessible for international travellers.
