Starwood Hotels & Resorts’ Luxury Collection has reopened the Pine Cliffs Hotel, a Luxury Collection Resort in the Algarve, following an 18-month renovation. The extensive restoration preserves the resort’s iconic character while introducing refreshed design elements that celebrate Portuguese heritage and regional craftsmanship.
“The spectacular transformation of the iconic Pine Cliffs is testament to the collaborative and longstanding relationship we enjoy with United Investments Portugal. This is without a doubt one of Starwood’s most significant developments this year, and ensures this very special resort firmly remains the definitive luxury destination in the Algarve for generations to come,” said Michael Wale, president of Starwood Resorts, Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
All 217 guestrooms and public areas were refurbished with attention to local tradition and history. Renovations include hand-painted tiles, distinctive headboards in each room, historic maps and artwork in the lobby, and terracotta floors throughout the property. These design touches combine contemporary comfort with authentic Portuguese details.
The resort occupies 170 acres and offers an extensive range of amenities. Dining options include 11 restaurants and bars, with poolside and beach-side venues, a steakhouse, and a health-focused outlet. Serenity The Art of Well Being, the resort’s destination spa, provides 10,000 square feet of holistic treatments rooted in indigenous practices.
Leisure facilities comprise six swimming pools, a large children’s club, a tennis academy, a nine-hole golf course, landscaped gardens, and retail outlets. For events, the resort features 23,000 square feet of flexible event space suitable for meetings, weddings, and other gatherings.
“Pine Cliffs’ renovation truly is a cornerstone in The Luxury Collection brand’s investment effort to renovate some of the most iconic hotels around the globe. We are thrilled to deliver enhanced accommodations in the Algarve, a perennial favorite of global explorers, to our guests,” said Meredith Dichter, global brand director of The Luxury Collection Hotels & Resorts.
