Pack With Purpose: How to Pack for Meaningful Travel Donations

Kasbah Tamadot, part of the Virgin Limited Edition collection, is the first hotel in Morocco to support Pack for a Purpose. Launched in 2009, Pack for a Purpose helps travelers learn which essential items are in short supply at their destinations and encourages them to set aside a little space in their luggage for medical and school supplies that directly benefit local communities.

Kasbah Tamadot works closely with Pack for a Purpose to back three local charitable projects that address education, childcare and vocational training:

  • A crèche in Asni providing a free pre-school activity center for young children from remote Berber communities. The crèche gives children a safe place to socialize and begin learning Arabic and French—languages commonly used across Morocco but not always spoken at home by Berber-speaking families.
  • A girls’ boarding house in the Atlas Mountains that welcomes girls aged 13 to 18, allowing them to continue their studies. By providing stable accommodation and educational support, the boarding house opens up greater employment and life opportunities for its students.
  • The Eve Branson Foundation Craft House training programs for young women, which combine English and French language tuition with skills training in the production of high-quality artisan goods. These programs aim to strengthen livelihoods and preserve traditional crafts.

Kasbah Tamadot is the second property within the Virgin Limited Edition portfolio to join the Pack for a Purpose initiative, following Ulusaba Private Game Reserve in South Africa. The partnership reflects a wider commitment across the collection to create meaningful, long-term benefits for neighboring communities.

“As a company we are committed to finding new ways to support the communities living close to our properties,” said Jon Brown, managing director of Virgin Limited Edition. “I am thrilled we are working with Pack for a Purpose to support their goal and help the people who live locally to Kasbah Tamadot and Ulusaba.”
