Oslo Airport Launches Connecting Norway Hub to Boost Domestic Connections

Connecting from international to domestic flights can be a major hassle: passengers often must exit the secure zone, collect checked luggage, re-check bags, and pass through security again. Oslo Airport has created a simpler transfer process to reduce this burden. The airport in Norway’s capital launched a program called Connecting Norway to streamline transfers between international and domestic flights and terminals.

Currently available to passengers flying with SAS, Widerøe, or Norwegian, the Connecting Norway initiative simplifies the journey from arrival to departure for domestic connections. Upon arrival at Oslo Airport, travelers follow clear signage toward transfer areas. An electronic display notifies passengers when their connecting flight is ready and whether their checked baggage has been transferred to the onward aircraft.

After that confirmation, passengers proceed through customs. The customs step has been simplified: instead of lengthy manual checks, travelers may confirm their status by scanning a travel document such as a boarding pass, the credit card used to purchase the ticket, or a barcode on a mobile device. This reduces time spent in transit areas and removes several traditional friction points in the transfer experience.

Although the program is still in its pilot phase, Oslo Airport aims to expand participation to additional airlines and further refine the process. By focusing on clear signage, timely baggage status updates, and streamlined customs verification, Connecting Norway seeks to make domestic connections smoother, faster, and less stressful for international arrivals.
