Oceania Cruises, celebrated for offering some of the finest cuisine at sea, now brings the authentic flavors of Cuban cooking aboard its ships. Cuban menus are being introduced across all Cuba sailings, beginning with Marina’s inaugural voyage to Cuba on March 7.
Cuban cuisine, like the island’s culture, blends vibrant, spicy, sweet and savory notes. Guests can enjoy a selection of iconic Cuban dishes in the Grand Dining Room, while the Terrace Café features an elegant Cuban tapas menu on special evenings.
“With Frank Del Rio, the founder of Oceania Cruises, and many members of our team originating from Cuba, these menus were crafted with pride and passion and reflect a deep respect for traditional roots,” said Bob Binder, president and chief executive officer of Oceania Cruises. “Many recipes are family heirlooms from our Cuban team members. The vibrant, authentic dishes offer flavors to satisfy every palate — we’re delighted to showcase the celebrated cuisine of this captivating island on board our ships.”
Guests can now sample classic Cuban dishes such as ropa vieja, a slow-stewed preparation of shredded beef with mild spices, white wine and tomato; arroz con pollo, a comforting staple of chicken and Arborio rice subtly infused with saffron; and crispy malanga fritters, made from a root vegetable similar to taro. Seafood selections showcase island-inspired accents like fresh coconut, fragrant pineapple and sweet lime, while local tropical fruits and handcrafted rums are used to create signature Cuban cocktails.
These Cuban offerings are available on a range of sailings, including select departures aboard Insignia in November and December 2017, allowing guests to savor world-class cuisine while exploring the region.
