Norwegian Cruise Line Announces 2019–2020 Global Itineraries

In January, Norwegian Cruise Line announced an expanded set of routes for the 2019–2020 cruising seasons that highlight new ship features and a wide range of warm-weather destinations. The company’s newest vessel, Norwegian Bliss, will operate summer sailings from New York to the Bahamas and continue service into the following season. The Bliss is designed with guest experiences in mind: it includes a two-level electric racetrack, Broadway-caliber entertainment and 27 onboard dining options. After the initial rollout, passengers will be able to choose from 18 distinct itineraries covering the Bahamas, Florida and the southern and western Caribbean.

Several other ships in the fleet will offer family-friendly warm-weather departures. The Norwegian Gem is scheduled to sail from New York with itineraries to the Bahamas and Florida, providing family-focused activities and accommodations. From Tampa, the Norwegian Dawn will operate short five-day cruises to the Bahamas, a convenient option for travelers seeking a brief getaway. Meanwhile, the Norwegian Breakaway and Norwegian Getaway will sail from New Orleans to destinations in the western Caribbean and along the Mexican coast. For travelers based in the eastern Caribbean, the Norwegian Epic will depart from San Juan, Puerto Rico, offering a variety of Caribbean itineraries.

Beyond the tropical offerings, Norwegian Cruise Line will also introduce several routes during the fall season that focus on cooler climates and scenic coastlines. These sailings will navigate the rivers, inlets and coastal waterways of Canada and New England, showcasing regional fall foliage, coastal towns and cultural ports of call. These seasonal itineraries are aimed at passengers who prefer scenic cruising and exploring historic destinations on shorter shore visits.

Across the lineup, the 2019–2020 schedule reflects an emphasis on variety: there are options for short escapes, weeklong vacations and extended sailings that allow time to explore multiple islands or coastal regions. Onboard amenities across the fleet cater to diverse traveler interests, from active entertainment like the racetrack aboard the Norwegian Bliss to family programming, specialty dining and theatrical productions reminiscent of Broadway. Dining options range from casual venues to more refined specialty restaurants, giving passengers choices that suit different tastes and budgets.

Itineraries are designed to balance popular ports with lesser-known stops, allowing guests to combine beach time with cultural experiences and excursions such as snorkeling, historic tours and culinary tastings. Ships based in major homeports such as New York, Tampa, New Orleans and San Juan offer convenient boarding options for many U.S. travelers, and the mix of short and longer cruises makes it easy to find a sailing that fits a variety of schedules.

By positioning newer ships like the Norwegian Bliss on high-profile routes and maintaining a broad fleet presence across key departure cities, Norwegian Cruise Line aims to appeal to families, couples and solo travelers seeking both relaxation and active adventure. Whether passengers prefer warm Caribbean waters, family-oriented amenities or scenic fall sailings along the northeastern coastline, the 2019–2020 slate provides multiple choices for planning a cruise that matches personal interests and travel timelines.
