Norwegian has become the first airline in Europe to offer live television on board, giving passengers access to Bloomberg Television and Norway’s TV 2 News on its WiFi-equipped fleet. The service debuted in late November on flights between Oslo (OSL) and Berlin (TXL) and will be rolled out across flights from the United Kingdom to 29 destinations throughout Europe.
According to Bjorn Kjos, CEO of Norwegian, the new offering is designed to improve the inflight experience: “We’re very excited to be the first airline in Europe to offer live television on board. Introducing Bloomberg Television and TV 2 News to our passengers opens the door to more content choices and a better overall inflight experience. By offering free WiFi combined with complementary live television, we are setting the stage for a passenger experience like no other in the sky.”
The live-TV feature is delivered via the airline’s onboard WiFi system, available on 87 aircraft, allowing travelers to stream live news during their journey. By pairing complimentary internet access with live channels, Norwegian aims to give passengers timely news updates and added entertainment options while flying.
Launching live television on selected routes marks a step toward a broader onboard content strategy. The move reflects growing passenger demand for connected services and real-time information during travel. Offering reputable news channels like Bloomberg Television and TV 2 News emphasizes Norwegian’s focus on quality programming and reliable coverage for business and leisure travelers alike.
As the service expands from the initial Oslo–Berlin route to routes across the UK and the rest of Europe, passengers flying with Norwegian can expect increased access to live news without additional charges. The convenience of streaming directly to personal devices through the airline’s WiFi ensures passengers can choose when and how to watch, whether catching headlines between meetings or following breaking stories while en route.
Norwegian’s initiative highlights how airlines are enhancing inflight connectivity to meet modern expectations. Free onboard internet paired with live television contributes to a more engaging and productive travel experience, particularly on short- and medium-haul European routes where staying informed is often a priority for travelers.
