New 2023 expeditions include the following highlights:
Road to Atacama
Sept. 27–Oct. 9 — This overland adventure crosses the Atacama Plateau and surrounding regions of Argentina and Chile, one of the driest places on Earth outside the polar zones. The route traverses elevated plateaus and stark, otherworldly landscapes featuring salt flats, flamingo populations, ancient Incan trails, wandering herds of llamas and vivid turquoise lakes. The terrain is demanding and remote, but the views and rare natural features make for an unforgettable experience.
Road to Bolivia
Oct. 12–23 — Bolivia remains one of the world’s most secluded and dramatic countries, from treeless high desert and near-vertical valleys to pristine stretches of rainforest. This expedition crosses the Altiplano, the extensive high plateau second only to Tibet, and tackles routes that include sections of the famed Dakar Rally course and the vast white horizons of Salar de Uyuni, the world’s largest salt flat. The itinerary pushes drivers into remote landscapes and offers a deep sense of solitude and discovery.

Road into Uncharted Peru
Oct. 26–Nov. 6 — Peru is a land of striking contrasts: the driest desert, the highest navigable lake, deep canyons and the origins of the Amazon. This new motoring expedition highlights Peru’s most dramatic landscapes and cultural sites, including the enigmatic Nazca Lines and remote highland routes that have challenged rally drivers. Over approximately 12 days, travelers navigate rugged Andean roads, remote valleys and coastal deserts, experiencing a diverse cross-section of Peru’s geography and heritage.
Road to Namibia
Dec. 6–20 — Namibia ranks among the world’s premier overland destinations, with ancient dunes, sweeping desert plains and a dramatic coastline where desert meets the Atlantic. This route offers a mix of severe climate contrasts, technical off-road driving and remarkable scenery: towering sand dunes, fossil and petrified forests, Stone Age rock art and unique wildlife. The expedition tests both vehicle and driver while revealing the stark beauty of southern Africa.
Each itinerary emphasizes responsible, safe exploration and is staffed by experienced guides who ensure logistical support and local insight. Accommodations vary by location and may include boutique lodges, remote camps and comfortable overnight stops that complement the rugged nature of the routes.
Nomadic Road’s 2023 departures offer opportunities for drivers seeking more than conventional tourism: demanding drives, remote settings and the satisfaction of completing ambitious overland journeys. With group sizes and vehicle specifications tailored to each expedition, participants can expect hands-on driving, expert navigation and immersive encounters with landscapes that are difficult to reach by ordinary means.
For travelers interested in adventurous driving expeditions that combine off-road challenge with cultural and natural discovery, these new departures present a compelling lineup for the rest of the year. Space on each departure is limited to preserve the quality of the experience and to ensure appropriate support across remote sections of each route.
